PooPScooP. Quite a name, quite a word. You can fill your own e-magazine with pages ad nauseum, speculating on its meaning. During the naming process, I imagined the name would be a decided turn-off to some people, slashing my readership by "X" millions simply because the title contained the offensive "poop" word. Well, as much as I would love to reach everyone with my thoughts, part of the challenge of growing and expanding our consciousness is to get past petty little obsessions. Hence one of the reasons for naming this opinionated e-zine PooPScooP.
There has to be more behind the oft controversial name, no? Referencing Webster's New Twentieth Century Dictionary, Unabridged, it was startling to see the limited contemporary definitions for "poop." Information? no. Gossip? no. Body waste? (I don't want to offend too many readers too quickly) no. The closest Webster comes to the meaning I was searching for was "to break wind," as a verb or "the act of breaking wind," as a noun. Well, why don't I just leave it at that? I'll assume that you all are familiar with the function of a scoop.
THE FACT IS that there is all too much wind being broken by folks. It ranges from blatant lies to exagerations to simply immoral opinions. And finally, some people just don't make much sense when they open their mouths or put pen to paper or finger to keyboard. But that's my opinion, I suppose. And that's probably what sets me apart from the Rush Limbaughites / so-called "religious" rightists (of all supposed religious persuasions - that would include Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and Hindu pretend-to-be's) / Fox Newsians etc.
I don't pretend to offer THE TRUTH. The fact of the matter is that, as human beings, we only have opinions. THEY (opinions) are based on our own limited experiences. Oh I'm sure that some of you think you have some privileged access to "truth" based on your reading of the Holy Book of your chosen religious faith.I won't get into book titles at this juncture. I want to keep you reading. The only thing I'll suggest to you at this point is that it's not only likely, but it's almost a certainty, that what you've been holding to as literal truth has probably been a less than perfect translation of that work's original language into English. In fact, in some cases, it's been translated from its original language into two or three languages before it found its way into English. Remember that old yarn about starting a story in a kindergarten class? Remember what it sounded like by the time it got to the end of the class? Well anyway...
This e-zine will discuss any number of subjects, from domestic politics to international affairs. Medical ethics to business ethics. Economic health to human health. And my favorite subject, spiritual health. You can blame me for most of the content, but you'll periodically see the bi-line of a contributor and I'll accept no credit or blame for anything they say.
If you don't like what you read in The PooPScooP, you have two choices in life. One, send us an e-mail with your opinion. Two, don't bother to read us. Oh if you do take the time to e-mail us your opinion? Do all of us a favor? I want to keep this an open forum. That means I do not want to have to edit comment letters. So please have something to say. I'm certain that I'll inflame someone along the way, but don't waste everyone's time with nonsensical threats and blabber.
